Update v0.2 - Revamping controls, polishing menus, tweaking game balance


I've made an update to my first serious project, a twin-stick shooter, bullet-hell, score-attack game where you shoot at a ball and smash it in to as many shapes as you can.

Reasons for the change:

  • I found that the asteroids controls were too clunky and slow.
  • The game feels much more dynamic with the freedom of movement and aiming that twin-stick provides.
  • Also now gives me room to add new elements to the enemies.

Game balance

Due to twin-stick controls buffing the player's ability to dodge and shoot. I've subsequently buffed certain aspects of the enemies:

  • Some have increased projectile speed
  • Some spawn more often
  • Some have faster rate of fire

What's next

Will soon start working on the next 10 waves/enemies, some ideas I have as of now:

  • Space worms, 3 circles tied to each other that will wiggle through the screen.
  • Laser cannon, charges up a laser, player must move out of the warning zone to avoid getting blasted.
  • Protector fleet, one central shape protect by surrounding shapes, that flies around the screen.
